UH.....

Amanda was kind enough to bring it to my attention that I say "Uh" too much in my video blogs. I never noticed it until she said something. Now, Im self conscious about it. I find myself re-doing dialogue alot now. So thanks for that, Amanda.
Today has been a fruitful day. We got an early start with Xanders soccer game. It was a beautiful day today, but very very windy. Im not sure that I can use a whole lot of the video shot at the soccer field. Mine and Xander's birthday is coming up on the 27th, and I have no clue what I want to get him. I thought about a swimming pool, but the maintenance would be a pain.
Hopefully I have enough footage today to post a video tonight! Stay tuned.

  1. Amanda is correct!

Try having a piece of gum in your mouth when speaking & chew lightly on it between words, may connect your brain & your mouth more (what I use anyway).
How about an led Projector, then you can steal it from him come halloween! (ok craftily have it at your place come the trick or treat season)
Our daughter loves her optoma unit in her room, simpler to maintain than a pool, providing he's got a dvd player in his room?
(& a blackout curtain for any window, if needed)
Izzy plays hers straight onto the wall as dad hasn't fixed her a screen up yet!

RJ, haven't seen you cook yet, & on your diet sheet it's all processed crap (yes subway doesn't even have proper bread!
somewhat concerned that you are skipping breakfast of any kind & then laying into a fast food lunch every day on your sheet.
Also expensive, you need to set an example to gracie in order that she see's & eats proper veggies etc (see dad, eat like dad, ..that could go either way)!

I've learnt that stuff I hated & refused as a kid I now love, & started experimenting to encourage my daughter to have a more varied diet, ..it's working!

She rarely has proper fast food, can turn down chocolate, & all sorts of crap, ..tuned her in since day one, she thinks about her food & snacks, & has been since she was 5yrs, ..conditioning I guess (we talk & explain alot to her being a single child)
For instance she has had a clutch of 50 "hotel chocolat" brand kinder egg type treats in her room since christmas, & the majority are still there, she doesn't gorge & can be trusted to simply think as to a treat versus greed, (& judging by my frame she'll need to) ..to the point that even though she know's they are hers & can be eaten at any time without asking, she still asks or tells us when she's contemplating one.
Diet is for you & your kid's future in more than one way, in a world of over-consumption (yup hands up here too) it makes it all the more important to break the cycle & have a kid learn from the word go.
So Izzy cooks with mum & dad, bakes, chops veg (under supervision) mixes ingredients, makes spaghetti bolognaise, handles & chops meat, guts fish, ..all to have an understanding of quality versus quantity.
I'd say that's what we've lost along the way & need to get back to.
So even if she doesn't like the taste, she still is familiar with it's source, feel, upbringing & active kitchen participation up to the table.
For the spag as she has a fine old time we tend to batch cook it & then she can have a "proud moment" again in coming evenings that she had a hand in the making of "good" food.
To the extend that she eats, squid, snails, crabs, grows her own tomatoes (with help).

Not bad for a kid that as a baby had to be kept alive on chocolate for the first few years.
Even with sweets (chocolate) now we include her in tasting & appreciating a good choc v bad poor quality chocolate (it's neither hard nor expensive) so she tastes & lets food linger on her palate rather than chew & swallow.
I have high hopes for her eventual attitude to food.
Izzy's standing by me now & says..
"I always try food & never be greedy, & I talk about what it tastes like, & the way it was made. I try to finish my food & listen to my tummy being full, I take my time with my food, & I try & drink around a litre of water , juice & milshake every day"
I never leave home without my 600ml water bottle, as getting dehydrated just makes me cranky"

honest that was a just gone 7yr old dictating to me!
